This episode combines chapters four and five of the manga, where Belldandy becomes a college exchange student at Nekomi Institute of Technology as well as the introduction of Sayoko and her rivalry with Belldandy. The first half concentrates on chapter four, while the latter half concentrates on chapter five.
In the manga, Belldandy is shown up in front of Kakuta's class helping (or teaching?) the lecture, while this is not shown in the anime. In the anime, it shows that Sayoko is the one prodding Ozawa into expelling Belldandy.
Sayoko's advances are changed drastically, although it keeps the same feel. Originally in the manga, Sayoko remembers Keiichi and that she dumped him before. The classroom seating scene is new material. Sayoko gives out a fake intercom saying that Kakuta sent out for Belldandy, but in the anime Sayoko tells Belldandy herself that Ozawa summoned her. After the water fiasco, Belldandy succeeds in telling Sayoko she's a goddess, something she was unable to do in the manga until Toshiyuki Aoshima arrived, and again later during the Anki story.
Sayoko originally makes a bet with another student about how soon she can have Keiichi wrapped around her finger (she bet her BMW), and this nonexistant in the anime. Sayoko's repeated attempts at foiling Belldandy and Keiichi's relationship show greater and greater consequences by the Ultimate Force in the manga, even to the point of causing a freak blizzard. Sayoko then gives up for a time after that. The sunset-driving seems to be ripped off from her cousin, Toshiyuki Aoshima, since that's the trick he attempted to use on Belldandy, and Sayoko's use of it is new to the anime.
The conversation between Keiichi and Sayoko in the car is new material as well. They seemed to adapt the manga a bit near the end, since Belldandy and Keiichi went through the freak blizzard in order to give Sayoko some food. The Motor Club joining in, however, is new to the anime.
