This episode is based on the events in chapter 26 of the manga.
Keiichi's dream in the beginning of this episode differs slightly. First off, he's not running; he's tied to a mandala-like contraption. Marller also appears as a corpse-like being in the manga, while she first appears cloaked in the anime. Lastly, in the manga, Keiichi dreams during the day, while he wakes up in the middle of the night in the anime. The wording Marller uses in the manga is "I'll give you a body as hideous as my own", although that wasn't used for the reason that her method of torture is a smidge different in the anime.
In the manga, Belldandy notices Marller's waves after Keiichi wakes up, and while she's shopping. She then immediately goes back home to set up the barrier.
Tamiya was originally by himself when he bought the Demons CD, and found it at a CD store rather than shopping with Otaki looking at good luck charms. The inking of the CD is new to the anime, and is quite hilarious, in my opinion. Marller's reaction to the good luck charms is new, since we don't find out that it's her weakness until chapter 29.
The conversation through town and the video arcade are new events.
The megaphone demon is new, since Belldandy originally left to look for Marller. Marller originally disguised herself as a frog, but I guess her tastes've changed to disguising herself as a tanuki. The major-major difference in this episode is that Marller changes Keiichi into a motorcycle, while she originally changes Keiichi into a giant lizard in the manga. Therefore, any events and jokes relating to the motorcycle are new.
Marller's references to keeping Belldandy on Earth is new. I'm begining to wonder if this will play an integral part later on in the series, since both Marller and Urd have mentioned it...?
Belldandy mistaking something else for Keiichi was kept. I find that funny.
It was mentioned in the manga around this point that Marller and the goddesses were childhood friends, but that was left out of the anime. Also, Marller being sealed by the goddesses is new to the anime as well.
The attempt at breaking the code was slightly changed due to Keiichi's circumstance, so Urd eventually turned Keiichi into a frog in the manga.
They originally retrieved the CD because Tamiya came over to see if Keiichi had a CD Player, so the events of Urd riding Keiichi around and finding it at the used CD place is completely new. In the manga, after that, Belldandy uses the CD on Marller and Marller gives the password, and Keiichi is turned back naked. End of chapter. So, everything else is new material, including the addition of Hijiri-chan and her friend.
I like how they foreshadowed with Belldandy's earring.
Poor Keiichi... originally, only Belldandy witnessed his nudeness, and she didn't blush to the extent of the anime.
In any case, Marller's newest appearance and voice have been tinkered a bit to fit this episode, but it worked out fine. The ending of this episode fades in nicely with the next, as we never get to see how Sayoko and Marller meet in the manga.
