In the long and complex story of Ah! My Goddess, a great number of characters emerge. Here is a brief introduction to each of them, as well as external links in case you'd like to learn more about a certain character.

Goddesses
Belldandy
Belldandy is the title goddess of the series. She holds the license of a Goddess First Class, Category Two, Unrestricted. She is the Original Mary Sue, basically, since she's also the main and only love interest for Keiichi Morisato. Her elemental affinity is wind, and her angel's name is Holy Bell. She is voiced by Kikuko Inoue in the Japanese original and Eileen Stevens in the English dub.

Urd
Urd is Belldandy's voluptuous and provocative elder sister, who also happens to be the half-demon daughter of Hild, the CEO of Hell. She holds a Goddess Second Class, Administrative, Restricted License. Her main role in the series is to meddle in Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship, supposedly in their favor. She specializes in alchemic formulas and potions. Her elemental affinity is fire, and her angel is World of Elegance. She is voiced by Touma Yumi in the Japanese original and Vibe Jones in the English dub.

Skuld
Skuld is Belldandy's overly attached little sister. Her role in the series is to be annoying and troublesome, and make people want to stab her in the face. Repeatedly. With a rusty spoon. She has a Goddess Second Class, Category One, Restricted License. She specializes in machinery. Her elemental affinity is water, and her angel is Noble Scarlet. She is voiced by Aya Hisakawa in the Japanese original and Annice Moriarty in the English dub.

Peorth
Peorth is the fourth goddess to appear, and is introduced as a rival to Belldandy as she is also a Goddess First Class, Category Two, Unrestricted. She is once again called to Keiichi Morisato, and is introduced as one who is serious about her job, willing to fulfill his wish at any and all cost. However, she leaves on good terms, and once again returns eventually to become a boarder at the Morisato household as a playmate for Urd and Skuld. Her angel is Gorgeous Rose. Lind
Lind is the fifth goddess to join the pantheon, and despite her infrequency, more like one-shot appearance, she has a big fan following. She holds a Goddess First Class, Special Duty, Restricted License. She is a serious battle-hardened goddess who does not wish to forget her emotional face. Her twin angels are Cool Mint and Spear Mint. She is voiced by Miki Itou in the Japanese original and Evelyn Lanto in the English dub.

Keiichi Morisato
Keiichi is the imperative dorky boy that falls in love with the Mary Sue of the series, Belldandy. He's supposedly a loser with women, but knows how to work motorcycles. His pupils are too small and his face is usually contorted in some stressed-out expression. He is voiced by Masami Kikuchi in the Japanese original and Drew Aaron in the English dub.

Sayoko Mishima
The heiress to the Mishima empire, Sayoko is beautiful, rich, intelligent, and the indisputable Queen of the Campus... until, of course, Belldandy arrived and blew through her perfect little monarchy. Basically, Sayoko is pissed and she wants revenge. One of the few characters who wishes ill against Belldandy, Sayoko is a deep and complex character who doesn't get nearly as much screentime as she deserves, considering she's one of the main antagonists. She is voiced by Mamiko Noto in the Japanese original and Karen Nell in the English dub.

Sora Hasegawa
Sora is a shy girl in the N.I.T. Motor Club. She has a crush on Toshiyuki Aoshima. She whores an episode in the first season all to herself, and actually does a crappy job at it, too. Her English voice makes her sound like Daria. She is voiced by Ikue Ohtani in the Japanese original and Zoe Martin in the English dub.

Toraichi Tamiya
Tamiya is an upperclassman and one of the directors of the N.I.T. Motor Club, and is a big, burly man who likes karaoke. He doesn't do much in the series besides whoring money from poor Keiichi and making life hard for him. He has a short-lived crush on Peorth. He used to be in love with Chihiro Fujimi. He is voiced by Kiyoyuki Yamada in the Japanese original, and Marc Thompson in the English dub.

Aoyama Otaki
Otaki is an upperclassman and one of the directors of the N.I.T. Motor Club, and is a big and burly man who has spark plug earrings. He isn't as pathetic as Tamiya because he eventually gets a girlfriend, Satoko. He used to be in love with Chihiro Fujimi. He liked collecting good luck paraphernelia. He is voiced by Issei Futamata in the Japanese original and Scottie Ray in the English dub.

Hijiri
Hijiri is basically an anime-only character who's more or less a running joke in the series. Only, it's not a joke because she isn't funny half the time. Keiichi and Belldandy run across her every so often, and she has a mother. She refers to Belldandy and Keiichi as her big sister and brother.

Megumi Morisato
Megumi is Keiichi's younger sister by one year. She shortly also moves to Nekomi in order to go to N.I.T. She is also a motorcyclist, but instead helps out with the Softball Club at school. In the beginning she has a one-sided rivalry with Skuld (Skuld's side), and wins. She is voiced by Yuriko Fuchizaki in the Japanese original and Emily Blau in the English dub.

Professor Kakuta
Professor Kakuta is a professor at N.I.T. He's smart and nice and everyone loves him. He's old, though. He is rivals with Ozawa because obviously Ozawa is gay for him. Anyway, there's not much to say about him other than the fact that one time in the manga, Urd hits on him despite the fact that he has a family. He is voiced by Dan Green in the English dub.

Professor Ozawa
Ozawa is a boring character who Sayoko teams up with in the fourth episode of the anime to overthrow Ozawa via Belldandy. He's evil, not nice, unlikeable, shallow, and very rarely appears on your television screen. Thank goodness. He is obviously gay for Kakuta, which is oyaji ai... which is creepy.

Toshiyuki Aoshima
Aoshima is Sayoko's younger cousin, and a casanova who gets all the ladies... except, you guessed it, Belldandy. In the desire to get what he can't have, he works with Sayoko is finding out who and what Belldandy is, only he keeps getting foiled. Persistent little bugger. In all actuality, though, he's gay for Keiichi. He is voiced by Nobuo Tobita in the Japanese original and Marc Diraison in the English dub.

Chihiro Fujimi
Chihiro is the first N.I.T. Motor Club director, and also the original founder. She was a professional racer until recently when she decided to turn the old clubhouse into her own motorcycle shop, where she eventually employs Keiichi. Both Tamiya and Otaki are crazy about her... sort of.

Sentaro Kawanishi
Sentaro is Skuld's obligatory love interest. He appears for three chapters in the manga, the only mentioned once thereafter. He knows how to ride a bike, which Skuld didn't know how to. He's basically a mini-Keiichi who makes Skuld eventually realized that she wants Keiichi all to herself, not to Onee-sama. He is voiced by Romi Paku in the Japanese original.

Satoko Yamano
Satoko Yamano is a software engineer who Otaki madly falls in love with. She is kind and intelligent, and just a little bit shy... basically, every Japanese guy's dream. She apparently developed a like of cosplaying as a furry in the anime. In the manga, she appeared for a few chapters then is never heard of again.

Shiho Sakakibara
Shiho Sakakibara is an amateur voodoo-artist and spiritualist who has her eyes set on Keiichi, and is one of the new people who can invoke Belldandy's jealousy. She mixes up her religions, apparently. She shows up in two chapters; her introduction chapter, and in one chapter of the Queen Sayoko arc as a villain. She is voiced by Asami Sanada in the Japanese original.

Demons
Marller
Marller is a Demon First Class, who's primary goal in the series is to make lives miserable for the goddesses... but since she can't do that, she tortures Keiichi. She does this because she's either bored or because the big boss, Hild, tells her to. Nobody knows for sure. In any case, she is also the childhood friend of Urd and Belldandy, and doesn't seem to get out much. In the second season of the anime, she suddenly gains an outfit which accents the fact that she has a chest. She is voiced by Urara Takano in the Japanese original and Alissa Brodsky in the English dub.

Hild
Hild is the leader of Hell, and Urd's mother. Her power is so great, in fact, she even has to wear multiple seals as hair ornaments and bracelets just to make sure she won't destroy Nekomi when she visits. She teams up and overshadows Marller with her arrival, as one who also helps try to make life difficult for Keiichi and his gaggle of goddesses.

Banpei
Banpei is a robot created by Skuld in order to help her big sister, but ultimately becomes her own playmate... until he falls for first belldandy, and then some android hoochie who will come to be known as Sigel. Basically, he develops "emotion circuits", and doens't do as he's told half the time.

Senbei

Troubadour
Troubadour is Urd's former lover, and a Plum Tree Spirit. He likes singing and playing the lyre, but he's only good at one of them. He, however, has his own motive for reappearing out of nowhere, and decides to use Urd's emotions for his own gain. What a prick. He also has a big shiny golden bird. He is voiced by Kouichi Yamadera in the Japanese original.
