Information - Zeboiim

Around four thousand years prior to the beginning of the Episode V, when Xenogears' main story begins, there was Episode III in the Xenogears timeline. This is basically the first story of the reincarnated Contact and Antitype, Fei and Elly. Only, in this timeline, they were known as Kim Kasim and Elly. Anyway, the civilization that was present at the time and the focus of Episode III was known as Zeboiim, and was a seemingly very advanced society with machinery and technology.

Kim Kasim was a nanotechnologist, frustrated at the current state of the world. Due to nuclear activity as well as the current state of things, humanity was suffering; most people could not even reproduce without multiple birth defects riddling their offspring, given that they were lucky enough to concieve offspring in the first place as well as make them last long enough until delivery time. Unfortunately, his lover, Elly, was also sterile from the environment.

He decided to create a pure "angel" for humanity, a daughter of his and Elly's made entirely of untainted nanomachine colonies. The name of this divine, untainted being was, and is, Emeralda. Everything was looking well, and at last it would be a time when Kim and Elly could be together, happily ever after.

Most likely employed by the government, Kim somehow managed to find records of nanotechnology from the sunken Eldridge. He used this technology to bio-engineer Emeralda, without the government's permission; the government wangted a weapon and gave him funding for a weapon. Instead, he used their money to create a daughter. No wonder why Kim had a hefty disdain for humanity in general. I wonder how Elly the Nurse put up with him. Regardless, the two were happy together, and were the longest-living Contact and Antitype that lasted, at twenty eight years old.

However, the time would not last.

Miang was present at the time of Zeboiim, and deemed humanity unworthy of merging into one with Deus. She used her position, whatever it may have been, to influence the Prime Minister of Zeboiim to orchestrate a world wide nuclear war which would restart humanity. That was one fo the main reasons the government wished for Kim to make them a weapon, and is also the reason why the government raided Kim's laboratory and killed Elly, as well as Kim right after he managed to seal away Emeralda.

Most likely the government did not unseal Emeralda once they found out that she was not a weapon, and were probably planning on disposing her; however, due to the destruction of Zeboiim, this was never carried out.
